Vandercook No. 2 for Sale!
The time has come for these wonderful old souls to help other fledgling printmakers grow. I am hoping to place my two antique letterpress printing presses in environments where they will be taken care of and used to foster the art of relief printing in someone new. I have thoroughly enjoyed being in the company of these workhorses and know that they still have life and love to give someone new!
Vandercook No. 2 press from the 1930’s for sale. Plenty of storage beneath press. The tympan currently has mylar for student projects but is easily removed. Two oak slats with countersunk bolts act as stops for forms but can be removed easily to be replaced by a steel or iron dead bar. Action of press is smooth. Press can be broken down into 3 parts for shipping but currently has cylinder still strapped in as it was moved as a single piece recently. Nice solid impression that is very forgiving. Though it does not have an inking system or registration grippers, it does better facilitate hand inking and custom inking techniques. Shipping is up to customer but must be moved within one week of sale. Below are some specs of interest:
Press Bed with Oak Slats: 23 1/8” x 20”
Press Bench footprint: 45” x 22”
Press Assembly footprint (accounts for handle): 50” x 40”
